This week, I had the pleasure of taking my youngest kid to her kindergarten orientation. It was so cool to see Maya checking out the kiddie classroom, strolling through the little cafeteria, and inspecting the model rocket and drawings and displays on the walls!
I can’t wait to hear about all the new things she’ll be learning; she’s a real talker, so I know she’ll tell me everything.
Sure, I know she’ll make some mistakes along the way (we all do), but I’ll be glad as long as she learns from them and tries not to make the same ones twice.
Unfortunately . . . this lesson doesn’t seem to have sunk in for a cousin of mine, Gladys, who’s been getting really horrible, crank phone calls for the past 2 days. I’ve tried telling her, “. . . you can locate any number’s owner . . . if you know where to look.”
Searching For The phone number
Your first stop should be a “Reverse phone number directory.” Plenty of these websites are now accessible on the world wide web. Usually, they ask you to enter the entire number, including the area code, and hit “Search.” If the number is a published land line, you may get the data you want, including the legal name of the owner and her/ his address. Even if the number is unpublished, you can still get it from Intelius.com.
If you’re fortunate, your search can stop right there. In most cases, you’ll need to look at this another angle.

Usually, the reason you’ll run into problems is that the number returns to a cell phone. Because there is no central database of cell phone numbers that’s free of charge, a free Reverse phone directory cannot return information on those numbers. As well, you may not be able to get info on landline numbers that are unlisted or non-published. I mention that only because Intelius has probably the largest database (more than 2 billion entries) and is able to find upwards of 90% of unlisted phone numbers. So, don’t bother trying multiple Reverse phone directories in order to find the owner of a phone number, either. Most use the same databases, so if you don’t score results at one then you won’t fare any better at another site.
Finding the Phone’s Owner
Instead, you may have to use a paid site. For a reasonable fee, you can access more search options to get the information you need to find someone’s cell phone number. Some databases gives you accurate, up-to-date information using both land line and cell phone searches.
Other exclusive data bases include even broader coverage of the entire US with superior results than you will find at most other websites. They also give you free search assistance and access to their expanded people search databases.
